Dora Tan

A versatile writer, Dora Tan is most known for her stage plays which includes Sadness is the New Normal (2016), A Wedding, A Funeral & Lucky the Fish (Singapore Repertory Theatre, 2014) and Just Late (W!LD RICE Singapore Theatre Festival, 2008). Her short stories have been published online, included in anthologies, and have won 2nd Prize (2007) and 3rd Prize (2015) at the National Art Council’s Golden Point Award.

"When people think of Redhill they think of the romantic legend of the boy who saved his kampung from the sword fish. They think of this boy who was killed by the jealous king and of his blood which subsequently stained the hill. I lived in Redhill for 24 years and I never heard that legend. Redhill, for me, has never been romantic."
