Kamaria Buang

Kamaria Binte Buang was born on the 5th February 1958. She received her education at Sang Nila Utama Secondary School from 1972 to 1975. She teaches sewing in community centres under Peoples’ Association (PA) Singapore. She started writing in 1972 and to date has written almost 100 poems that have been published in Berita Harian and Berita Minggu. Her first work, titled ‘Mencari Haluan’ (Finding Direction), was published in 2005 in Berita Minggu. ‘Anak Tetangga Kelantan Lane’ (Neighbours In Kelantan Lane) has won the Literary Award in 2009. The poem was also a part of the publication titled ‘Begitulah Kata-Kata’ and was used as part of the GCE A-Levels’ reading material for Malay Literature in 2015.
